2. A'DAM Lookout: Book Online, Decide on the Swing There

The 22-floor A'DAM Toren does the city's best 360° panorama (10:00–21:00 daily, last entry 20:00). Tactics:

Book online: €16.50 vs €18.50 at the door. Same ticket, €2 saved in 30 seconds. Book A'DAM Lookout tickets for a morning slot.
The Over the Edge swing (+€7.50, min height 1.20 m) is Europe's highest swing — decide on the roof, not in advance. Tickets are non-refundable, and you'll know in ten seconds whether you want it.
60–90 minutes is enough. Panorama, photos, swing deliberation, down. Don't linger; Noord has more.

3. Nxt Museum: the Future, Booked Ahead

Ten minutes north sits Nxt Museum — large-scale interactive digital installations that make traditional galleries feel like homework. It's timed-entry and genuinely sells out on weekends, so book Nxt Museum tickets for early afternoon. Pair it with a clearheaded hybrid from the menu — immersive art plus heavy indicas ends with you napping on a beanbag (which, to be fair, some installations encourage).

4. Pick One: EYE Filmmuseum or THIS IS HOLLAND

Both sit by the tower, both are worth 60–90 minutes, you don't have time for both:

EYE Filmmuseum: film history, exhibitions and the best riverside terrace cinema café in the city. Better for film nerds and bad weather.
THIS IS HOLLAND 5D: flight-simulation ride over the Netherlands in the round building next door. Better for thrill-seekers and kids.

5. Sunset at NDSM + the Ferry Home

Bus or cycle east to the NDSM wharf — street art, shipyard cranes, shipping-container food halls — for sunset drinks facing the skyline you photographed that morning. Then ferry back across a lit-up IJ. The evening crossing, city glittering ahead, is the single best free ride in Amsterdam.
